Seats are still available for the Canadian Open Poker Championship

Over half of the seats for the 2006 Canadian Open Poker Championship are still available. The tournament will take place at the Calgary Stampede Casino from March 8th until the 12th. It will be a No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em event played heads-up with a chance to win $250 000. Chief executive officer of HeadsUp Entertainment and former poker player, Kelly Kellner, is taking care of the whole event.

Kellner chose this heads-up style, where players play one on one, because it is not what people usually see at poker tournaments. Since it is the biggest payout Canada has ever seen for poker, he wanted something unique to go along with it. Players can qualify through satellite events for as little as $60 or enter the competition with $5000. No plans whether or not it will be televised yet.
