Nascar drive, Robbie Gordon auctioned off one of his signed helmets on eBay to raise money for the Harrah's Employee Relief Fund for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. GoldenPalace.com won the auction by bidding $51 000. The online casino will be picking it up today at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Fitness model, Tana Gabrielle will pick up the helmet on Goldenpalace.com's behalf. Owners of that property, Las Vegas-based MGM Mirage Inc., say that it could take anywhere between 12 and 16 months to reconstruct the interior of the hotel and casino. Biloxi's Beau Rivage first opened its doors in 1999 and the hotel-casino was estimated at over $800 million.

Caesars Lake Tahoe hotel-casino gets a makeover

This past summer, the Columbia Sussex Corporation bought the Caesars Lake Tahoe hotel-casino for $45 million. This occurred when Las Vegas-based Harrah's Entertainment purchased Caesars Entertainment Inc. The hotel-casino will now be called the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa.

The Columbia Sussex company plans to renovate everything in the hotel and casino to give a French Alps sort of feel to them. Seven new restaurants and four nightclubs will be added. A luxurious spa will be built as well. The hotel and casino will not be close during the renovations.

Goldenpalace.com sponsors eating contest
